Teac Jack: An Irish Treat

In the furthermost corner of remote and windswept North West Ireland is the family-run accommodation, Teac Jack. Passed down through three generations of Donegallians, this piece of unspoilt turf is well worth the pilgrimage to get there for a taste of real Ireland you’ll never forget.
For a total immersion in culture, music, dancing and folklore, this accommodation - with its fusion of contemporary-traditional décor - has it all. Mountains at your back, Wild Atlantic coastline at your feet, offshore islands a haven for wildlife. Jump in a boat and share the seas with humpback whales and bottlenose dolphins. Or walk along a deserted beach to loosen up after an evening of Irish music, where Céilís will have you dancing in no time. Great craic.
Teac Jack is an experience in all weathers. July and August are always popular but equally you can bookend the summer months for some timely escapes. With the first bursts of spring on the hillsides, the joy of an Indian summer or a spectacular storm, each season is different and guaranteed to wipe the cobwebs away and lift the soul.
Rich in legends and alive with fairies, the strains of life under Covid replaced by an eclectic tapestry of music, Gaeltacht spoken, and a smorgasboard of locally-sourced cuisine for sea food lovers and gluten-free vegans alike.

"Just back from a ceili weekend in Teach Jack's - not my first and I hope it's not my last! Great hospitality as usual. Beautiful food, excellent service and friendly, helpful staff. Go raibh maith agaibh!" from Co. Down on 1-3, March 2019.

"Teacjack's Jack is a gem. I was staying in Teach Campbell ( well - I'm a Campbell! ) when I decided to explore 'Jack'. I was very impressed and decided my next Donegal break had to include Teacjack as my b and b. The hotel is lovely, the staff are friendly and professional and my room was great value. The bar in the hotel is excellent and a great place to chill and enjoy craic with the locals and fellow travelers. The views of the sea and the hills of Donegal are offered free of charge! I have no hesitation recommending TeachCampell as a hotel if it's relaxation, chill, comfort and a lovely pint of Guiness you are after. If it's my shout I make it stout and if it's not black I send it back! " Bobby from Hillsborough, Co. Down on 2, February 2019.

"In the middle of a February snowstorm at home in America, I committed to facing my fear of flying and planned a solo journey to a foreign land. Through a random Google search, I found Teac Jack on the stunning Irish Atlantic coast. As soon as I walked through the front door and was greeted by Eileen, I felt at home. I am indebted to Mary and the entire staff for your kindnesses - both large and small - that were shared with me throughout my week's stay. The accommodations, food, and nightly entertainment in the pub were delights I recommend to all. My life has been changed forever. Yours will be too, when you visit this most special place." Mai J from Beacon, NY on 21, July, 2018.

"I spent two nights here, mid October '17. I love a nice peaceful break and this is certainly what I got. The peace and serenity was great. The food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Being off season it was very tranquil and peaceful. As I do not like crowded spaces this was exactly what I wanted. I was able to relax and enjoy a few glasses of wine and come and go as I pleased. It was so enjoyable that I am contemplating having another two nights before Christmas. One could not ask for better. A lovely hotel, lovely staff and lovely surroundings. My thanks to all the staff for a very memorable couple of days and I hope to see you all soon. George L from Armagh on 3 November, 2017"

"My wife and I were fortunate enough to house and pet sit for a lovely couple in Brinlack who introduced us to Teac Jack's and the wonderful people who are a daily part of the place. What a wonderful experience we had, each and every time we visited -- and we visited a lot in our month-long stay! From listening to some great music (including Pat Gallagher of Goats Don't Shave), to watching the local dancers, listening to the Irish language, sampling the beer and enjoying the food, Teac Jack's is a must stop along the Wild Atlantic Way. We're happy to say that we still stay in touch with a number of those who we met while in Gweedore - wonderful folks, all! Steve B from Middletown, Rhode Island, USA 09-28-16."

Thanks again Annie, Anita, Nuala, Mary, Connie and especially Gearoid. Dancing in the ceile was great fun for them. And, of course, marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade was an event these students will always remember. I am enclosing some images for the website. Thanks, again.
