Michael N. Swinney (Burbank, California) is the President of Sony Development, a division of Sony Retail Entertainment Group which is primarily responsible for conceptualization, design and development of location based entertainment centers. The first of these centers has begun construction in San Francisco with others to be announced in the near future. He also is responsible for the operation and development of retail and entertainment concepts as President of Sony Plaza in New York.

Prior to joining Sony, Swinney spent ten years at Presidio Theaters in Austin, Texas, where he was Chief Operating Officer. He left to join Lucas Film in 1987 as Senior Vice President/Entertainment Operations for Skywalker Development. After Lucas Film, he spent 3 years as Senior Vice President for Cinetropolis for Iwerks Entertainment.
