I am looking for relatives and more information of Daniel Sweeney born most likely around Corr Donegal in 1878 or 1879. He had a sister named Ellen who was born on February 28,1881 in Corr, Donegal to a Daniel Sweeney and an Annie Bonar Sweeney (both of whom I am also trying to find info ). Daniel, 23 and Ellen 20 came to Philadelphia in 1903 and from there I have lost track of Daniel. They gave a Mary Ann Sweeney a cousin in Merion Station, Montgomery County Pa. as the contact person on the Ellis Island manifest. In the Corr 1901 Census it was just he and his sister living in the house. Thanks

Hello, I have been somewhat frustrated trying to get info about my family in Ireland and hope you could help. I have a great story to tell of my family once we arrived in America. But what I have for info is Timothy A Sweeney, born to a Morgan Sweeney (who was born in Ireland per Timothys death certificate) in 1868 and died 1920. Morgan was married to a Catherine Beecher who emmigrated to America from Liverpool in 1864, aboard the St Andrews. Morgan died in Peabody, Mass in January, 1897. His parents were Morgan Sweeney and a Mary Riorden whose father was supposedly John Riorden. I have been told my family may have come from Mallow Township in County Cork , but I am just guessing. Any info you may have on the family in Ireland would be greatly appreciated.

My great great grandfather became head of a large Irish population in the city of Peabody, Mass. Roughly 2000 of the 4000 people were Irish and he was the head of many institutions. To this day there are Sweeney's on Tremont Street where our family settled when coming from Ireland 150 years ago.

Hello
I am researching a relative named Edmund "McSwiney". We have his original indenture papers dated 1822, and a will and testament dated 1831. I have just started and do not know how to figure out what clan McSwiney may be. My mother was doing some research about 6 years ago. The only other McSwiney she could find was Terence MacSwiney. The last name is spelled differently, so we don't know if we are related to him.

I was wondering if you may know if it is possible that the surname McSwiney could be from the Sweeney clan. Also, I could not find the names of Terence MacSwiney's parents or grandparents. If I knew those names, it would be much easier to figure out if we are related, or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Marie Visos

Ed Sweeney
No. 415

My name is Ed Sweeney and I live in Drexel Hill, PA.

I'm trying to locate the name of my great-grandfather who had served in the Army; probably during the Spanish-American War. My grandfather, Edward Joseph, was born (circa 1907) in Philadelphia and raised in Atlantic City, NJ. He had two older siblings, Margaret and Matthew. He married Margaret (Peg)Mulligan and had two children: Edward Joseph, Jr. (my father), and David John.

If anybody has any info related to Sweeney's living in Philly or Atlantic City it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My Greatx3 Granfather was Owen Eugene McSweeney, b Mar 1832, m Mary Green abt 1861, immigrated to US via England in 1887 with his wife and at least 2 children John and James McSweeney. They eventually ended up in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. John McSweeney married Elizabeth Lynch abt 1887 and James married Elizabeth Fischer abt. 1884. The 1900 census showed Mary and Owen having 9 children, but only 2 still living. Anyone having information on Owen or Mary, please advise. I am working with the family tree maker program.

Thanks, Aaron Sweeney
