Bob Cabral
No. 350

Hello,
My Grandmother's name was Ellen Sweeney and she married William Newell. She was born in the County of Cork (I do not know the name of the town) around 1890 and came to the US around 1900, first to Boston then to Providence.

Any information or where to get it would be great.
Best regards,
Bob Cabral (Yes, that is a Portuguese name. My Irish mother married a great Portugues man and had 8 kids)

Eliza SWEENEY

Whilst looking up records in Dublin, I found the following on Eliza SWEENEY. Perhaps this may help someone. My Grandmother was Eliza Sweeney (nee Donoghue) born in Cork on 15 October 1883 and who subsequently moved to Cashel, Tipperary and married John Coady in 1903. She had an illegitimate child in 1902 the father of whom was supposedly Thomas O'Donnell. Any further information on Eliza and her family would be welcome.

Hi! I'm afraid I don't have much to go on at all but I'm hoping someone can help anyway!

My mum, Ann, was adopted as a baby, I think sometime between 1947 and 1949, and brought up by John and Kathleen Warner in Shotts, Scotland. Her birth name was Bernadette Sweeney...and that's all I know. I'd love to trace my roots further than this and will appreciate any information at all. Thanks and good luck with your own searches!

Hi, my name is Maureen Bellard, and I live in Yorkshire, England. I am trying to trace my Great, Great,Grandmother BRIDGET SWEENEY who came from Ireland. Bridget was born about 1831 and married a THOMAS RILEY(born about 1829). By 1856 they had arrived in Hull,East Yorkshire,England. They had 6 children: Catherine,John,Mary F.,Margaret,Joseph & James. They all appear on the English 1881 Census, but on the 1901 English Census only Margaret Riley's descendents appear. Any Information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Maureen Bellard.
