Jennifer Hodge
No. 310

Jennifer Hodge ( nee Sweeney) looking for our roots. Sketchy details are my grandfather came to England from America as a child. He was sent here by his parents as he went deaf and he lived with a Vicar in Hampstead. His name was Leonard Sweeney. I also know he had a brother living in Australia and another brother who ran Owens Dairies in Southend. His family never came back for him. He went on to have five boys with Georgina Harris and died in 1964. Did the family go to Pittsburgh USA from Ireland...... Anyone who has info let me know.

Hi! I'm looking for any early information on my g-g-g-grandfather Edward Albert Sweeney born in the year of 1820. He married Martha Powers and had 8 children: infant daughter, infant son, Henrietta, Edmun(twin), Edward(twin), Ada, Grant, and Schuyler. Then Edward married Mary Jane (also known as Jen ) Best. Edward and Jen's children wereMae, Harry, Benjamin and Daniel( my g-grandfather). Edward died August 17, 1915 I know not where.

The only info I have besides pages and pages of decendents is that Edward was born in Ireland but once again I know not where. Please help.

P.S. Why are the names of Edward, Daniel, Lawrence, Eugene, and James so popular with the Sweeney's ? They are also very widely used in my family tree??

Hi Sweeney Clan,

My name is Greg Caswell from Round Rock, Texas. I am researching my maternal Great Grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Sweeney. She was born in New Jersey in March of 1865. (Exact location unknown). Her father was Michael Sweeney, born about 1840 in Ireland. Sarah married Frederick Pasch on November 15, 1888 in Plainfield, New Jersey. Frederick and Sarah lived out their lives in North Plainfield, New Jersey and Sarah is buried in Plainfield.

Any information regarding Sarah or her father, Michael, would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Greg Caswell

Jack McMonagle
No. 318

My gggrandfather Daniel McMonagle, married to Nancy Sweeny from Lifford, emigrated to the USA ca: 1849-1850
Three children did not come along. Daniel Jr., Sarah and Margaret. As I said before. they lived suposedly in the Tyrone area near Londonderry. One of the girls married a Doherty, the other a McGettigan.
Now I have uncovered a birth of a boy name of Daniel on 9 Mar 1865, in Stranorlar, Donegal. Parents are Daniel McMonagle and Jane Sweeny. I believe this to be the son of my gggrandfather. Also, married to a Sweeny. Parents, location, date and names leave too much evidence to just be considered coincidence.
What I need now is the names of the parents of Daniel McMonagle and Jane Sweeny.
