Looking for info on my Grandfather Martin P. Sweeney. He said that he was born in Ballyvaughan, County Clare 1862--64. There are no church records of his birth there or in Kilfenora. He had a sister Margaret, and a brother Patrick. There may have been more sisters or brothers. Martin, Patrick and Margaret came to the US in the early 1880's.

Martin moved to Torrington, Conn., Margaret to Winsted, Conn and Patrick to Mass.

My great great great grandfather is Turlogh Mcsweeney (The Donegal Piper) i know he had 5 daughters and 2 sons. I know one of the daughters had at least one child born around 1888 in Donegal, her name being Rose Anne (Hewston) - Surname spelling may be slightly inaccurate - . She married a Henry Mclennaghan again Surname may be slightly inaccurate due to Registrar confusion when arriving in Scotland. He was my great grandfather. I would be interested in tracing any descendants of Turlogh McSweeney and any other relevant information with regards the Geneology of my family. i look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me in my quest.

Yours Hopefully

My name is John Delmar Sweeney and I am looking for roots connecting my father, Ben Sweeney, his father Goolsby Sweeney, and his father Nelson Sweeney. The ancestors came to Virginia from Antrim, Ireland: Charles Sweeney-Moses Sweeney-Joseph Sweeney-Nelson Sweeney-Goolsby Sweeney- and my father Ben Sweeney. The family moved to Amherst County MO- and then to Washington County, KY- here the trail vanishes. Any help will be appreciated.
