I am looking for Patrick SWEENEY born circa 1835 and allegedly lived in County Cork, maybe even born there. We know he had at least one son Patrick Jr. born Wales circa 1863. Both came to Philadelphia PA. in the 1870's. He shows up on the 1880 census in Bruin PA. Butler County, he is married to Nancy and they have 2 children, Mary Ellen and Minnie May. Patrick Jr. is 17 at this time. We know Patrick Sr. died January 1891 at the age of 58 and is buried in Bruin {PA. We also know Patrick Jr. moved to Jefferson Co. PA where he married, was a constable and had other jobs. He died in 1926. These two are my brick wall. Hoping someone can shed some light on this elusive Gr. Grandfather of mine. Patrick Sr.

Colleen Sweeney
No. 203

Hello, my name is Colleen Sweeney from Oregon, USA. All I know of my grandparents are their names: Henry Sweeney and Mary Kennedy Simpson Sweeney. They lived in St. Paul, Minnesota from the early to mid-1900's. There were numerous brothers and sisters to my father Paul William Sweeney, but he never knew his family. He was sent to a foster home as a very young child. If any of this sounds familiar, please drop me a note. Thank you.

Looking for anyone that can give me info on a EVERETT LEE SWEENEY, B: 30 Dec. 1903, D: Sept. 1987 in Evansville, IND.
Everett was my mother RUBY HELEN FORK's first husband. Of this marriage there were three children born ( maybe four). The oldest was WANDA LEE, JOSEPH MALFORD and MARY JUNE( that is supposed to be a twin to JOY MARIE that died, also a son named BILLY that died at about the age of two. I have been led to believe Everett's mother's name was MARY SWEENEY and there was kin in New York.
I believe that Everett remarried and has children still living in Evansville.
I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me on this man. Thank you.

I am researching for a lady named Pam Lear Sessa. Her mother was Evelyn Mae Sweeney Lear. She was the daughter of John Sweeney and Margaret Cook Sweeney. They had 8 children, four of whom she know are Sansbury, Allen, Inez, Marquerite and Evelyn. Her mother was in D. C. when she met Victor Lear Jr. She is looking for any information on this family. She know very little as she grew up in Kentucky.

I work at Independence National Historical Park, and we are trying to identify a Commodore Sweeney, who would have served in the British Navy during the American Revolution, and who participated in teh Battle of Charleston. In 1783 he came to Philadelphia, PA and was introduced to Commodore John Barry, a native Irishman who served in the American Navy. The two of them had a converstaion about what it meant to be Irish, and we would like to use a quote from their talk in our printing office, but need a first name. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!
