The Chairman: Cathal MacSuibhne.
Regional Manager of Údarás na Gaeltachta, the authority with
responsibility for all matters pertaining to the Irish language speaking areas of Donegal, and in particular, its social, economic and cultural needs. Cathal is an authority on
matters concerning job creation and is instrumental in bringing many industrial jobs to
the county and has through his endeavours raised the standard of living for many people in
the Gaeltacht on par with the highest in Europe. Lives in Falcarragh with his wife Mary,
who is also deeply involved in the social and economic life of the area. They have three
children Treasa, Bríd and Cathal. Founder member of Clann tSuibhne his hobbies include
walking, reading and social affairs.
The Secretary: Máirín Ní Fhearraigh.
Deeply involved in the tourist industry for many years, she travels
nationwide as an advisor to local development organisations. Native Irish speaker whose
ancestors hailed from the island of Gola off the Gweedore coast. Has a burning passion for
the Irish culture and is responsible for many cultural events in the area.A member of the
Parents Association of Pobal Scoil Gaoth Dobhair active in the local Credit Union and
founder member of Gola Island Co-op. Lives at Gweedore with her husband Declan and
children Áisling, Colleen, and Éimear. Founder member of Clann tSuibhne. Hobbies include
collecting teapots and books.
Treasurer: Fergus Sweeney.
Secondary school teacher at Gweedore Community School teaching Science
and Maths. An excelent gardener and bee keeper, he and his wife Shiela
run a very successful Guest House with the most modern facilities
at Meenmore, Dungloe. A home from home for their guests who keep
returning regularly. Any Sweeneys looking for best of accommodation
at the right price this is your best bet! Fergus and Shiela have four
children Michael, Fergus Jnr., Eamon and Katie. Fergus is a founder member
of Clann tSuibhne. Interests include music, fishing and golf.

Well known electrical dealer in the North West with outlets at
Letterkenny and Dungloe, serving the entire county as well as Northern
Ireland. Has a passion for all things which are clan related and
does much research into family history.
Has a special interest in the Fanad Sweeneys and the Rathmullan base.
A keen Gaelic and Soccer Football enthusiast. Former President
of Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce. Active in very many local
committees, Tidy towns, Festival etc,. Lives in Letterkenny with his wife
Sadie son Raymond and daughters Caroline and Deirdre. Ben is a founder
member of Clann tSuibhne. Much of his leasure time is taken up
with Clan research.

Jim is retired from the taxi business lives at Letterkenny with his
wife Maureen. He has two sons Bernard and Robbie and a daughter May Herrity
who runs one of Letterkennys finest guest houses at Leck Road. Recipiant of
the prestigious Frommer Recommended Regional Breakfast Award
and a must for all Sweeney Clan members visiting the Letterkenny area.
Jim has a keen interest in Sweeney research and Doe Castle is high on his
priority keeping a watchful eye on progress there. Hobbies include golf,
touring and research of course!
Public Relations: John Sweeney (J.P.)
Involved in the import export business. Has a passion for the Irish
language and culture. Takes part in many broadcasts in the Irish language
on both Radio na Gaeltacht and Telifis na Gaeltachta nationwide, on various
topics. Member of many local voluntary committees. Is a keen angler and
collector of antiques, stamps and memorabilia. Editor of The Sweeneys,
Fanad, Doe, Banagh, International, Fleadh Caislean na
dTuath and Capt. Richard Mingo Sweeneys Sween Clan of the Battle-Axe. Is currently working on a booklet "Looking For Roots". Lives at Loughanure with his wife
Máire and children Gráinne, John Michael and Caoimha. Founder member of
Clann tSuibhne.
